Brelsford Park

Brelsford Park is the main public park and green focal point of Coffs Harbour's city centre. We are working to make it a lively and inclusive place where community wellbeing, culture and leisure come to life.

The city centre and surrounding environment will be connected through tree-lined pathways for both pedestrians and cyclists. Events will be facilitated through construction of a small stage, amphitheatre, village green, paved civic entry area and inclusion of event power outlets. Water play, picnic facilities, public amenities and kiosk location will enhance recreational opportunities.

Forum for Community Comments

We are asking for community feedback on the new Civic Entry and Water Play Area, Community Event Space and Picnic Areas.

Please view the Brelsford Park Masterplan and supporting documents for more details.

Civic Entry and Water Play

The key entry point to Brelsford Park is the Civic Entry. Framed by large figs with open space beyond, the vista from Park Avenue invites visitors into the park. Feature garden beds with seating, pavement and water spouts create a fun, engaging and welcoming space that provides a focal meeting point for the community.

Community Event Space

Designed to support small scale events and community gatherings this area will provide a space to meet, rest and relax. The community event space includes a stage suited to small acts and buskers. There is also a small amphitheater set into the existing slope suited for small gatherings and as an outdoor classroom.

Mobile Kiosk Pad

A mobile kiosk pad will be provided to offer flexibility for vendor facilities. The kiosk pad will include adjacent inclusive public seating on a major pathway.  Location of the kiosk will be developed in consideration of its connection with other facilities.

Please read our Submission Policy for more details on providing submissions to Council.

Basketball courts are seriously needed for our kids to enjoy with friends and train.

Outdoor basketball courts please.

I think this is a great idea as the space is not not regularly utilised. Outdoor basketball courts aren't available to the Coffs Harbour community and are desperately needed. I believe if they were to erected in this space, they would be very popular and used one a consistent basis.

Spend some time watching the current park users and you will find many have created their own urinal on the edge of the skatepark. Please consider this as something required to be installed properly with safe drainage to prevent the current health issues.
A few half court basketball courts would be amazing since coffs is sorely lacking. Perhaps handball as well.
Additional waste disposal for the extra people particularly food vendors additional waste.
Water play area would be fabulous.
More shade trees and plants in general, please keep the green open space feel.
I would hope to see night markets at this location too with some live music to set the mood.

It's good to see this project is moving on. Re Civic Entry: Important that the development pathways are wide enough for shared uses (cyclists and pedestrians) and they link from Park Avenue or Earl Street / Hogbin roundabout. The ease of cycling is compromised (choice of road where cars reverse back, school bus lane or a footpath) along Harbour Drive at the moment when continuing in the Jetty direction (worse during winter months when using the Creek path is too dark).

I would absolutely love to see a basketball court so my teenagers have somewhere to play a game with their friends or my husband.

We enjoy the sandpit at BrelsFord and would love an easy access/disabled access water play station. There aren’t many places/parks in Coffs that are accessible for disabled children (both wheelchairs and walking). Margaret Mahy playground in Christchurch, NZ has some great water play features.

Having a baby/family room in the toilet/ablution block would be helpful.

Fencing is great. It’s such a busy area that having it fully fenced would be amazing.

A small space for kids bikes/scooters would also be amazing. Maybe a little track with stop signs etc.

Where are the basketball courts in Coff Harbour? All it takes is a concrete slab and some hoops. Every other town has them. We were promised courts at the West Coffs District Park. Still waiting....
I'm going to start a petition for one at Brelsford Park!!
