The community engagement period for this project has now concluded. The results of the exhibition, and the final draft document will be presented to Council in due course. Submitters will be notified at that time.
As the Coffs Harbour region grows over the next 20 years, it is important to plan how this growth and change will be managed so as to maintain the high levels of liveability, environmental amenity and landscape quality that characterises the Coffs Harbour local government area.
To assist us develop as a North Coast Regional City, and to meet the requirements of the NSW Government, Council has developed the draft Coffs Harbour Local Strategic Planning Statement 2020 ('the draft Statement').
The draft Statement includes 16 Planning Priorities in four themes (connected, sustainable, thriving, leadership) to achieve Council's land use planning vision for the Coffs Harbour local government area to 2040. It also sets out the actions and the means for monitoring and reporting on these actions.

What did we hear?
Thanks to everyone who provided their views on this Strategy.We received feedback in relation to a number of themes and issues, including:
How the planning priorities align with other government directions
Recognising climate change and resilience
Importance of including health outcomes in strategic planning
Protecting important environmental areas, biodiversity and heritage
Public space and community infrastructure projects
Planning for strategic transport initiatives and improving transport connections or networks
Protecting and maintaining important industrial and residential land within the Local Government Area.
Next steps
The LSPS will be refined based on feedback received.
Once updated the final LSPS will be presented to Council for adoption.
