‘Yandaarra – Shifting Camp Together’ - A Guide for Aboriginal Cultural Awareness and Engagement has been developed to assist Councillors, staff and volunteers to provide a consistent and respectful approach to engaging with the Aboriginal community through strong relationships and effective communication. ‘Yandaarra – Shifting Camp Together’ - A Guide for Aboriginal Cultural Awareness and Engagement was tabled with Council on 13 June 2019. The draft document was placed on public exhibition for 28 days (from 19 June to 17 July 2019.) The draft documents were available for access on Council’s website, with printed copies on display at Council’s Administrative Centre and at the three branches of the City Library (Coffs Harbour, Woolgoolga and Toormina).
The public exhibition process was promoted in the local media. All promotional material encouraged the community to consider the draft document and provide feedback to Council.
All community submissions were considered during the finalisation of the Draft Aboriginal Cultural Awareness and Engagement Guide. The final document was adopted by Council on 8 August 2019.

Council is committed to openness and transparency in its decision making processes. The Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 requires Council to provide public access to information held unless there are overriding public interest considerations against disclosure. Any submissions received will be made publicly available unless the writer can demonstrate that the release of part or all of the information would not be in the public interest. However, Council would be obliged to release information as required by court order or other specific law.
