City Centre Parking - What We’ve Heard and Where to Next - Discussion Paper
We're seeking community feedback to help shape the future of parking in the City Centre.
As the City Centre continues to grow, we're planning ahead to ensure it remains vibrant, accessible and connected.
In 2024, the community shared valuable feedback on parking in the City Centre. You told us that safety, accessibility, all-day parking, convenience and supporting local businesses are important priorities.
That feedback, together with technical investigations and future growth planning, has informed the City Centre Parking - What We've Heard and Where to Next - Discussion Paper.
The Discussion Paper explores the opportunities and challenges of managing parking into the future and presents a range of ideas for consideration.
About the Discussion Paper
Building on community feedback received in 2024, the Discussion Paper explores current parking conditions, future demand, challenges and opportunities, and contemporary approaches to parking that could help meet the needs of a growing City Centre including:
- Preparing for growth in the City Centre
- Managing parking turnover and convenience more efficiently
- Supporting economic activity
- Improving modal shift by encouraging walking, cycling and public transport use
- Making better use of existing parking infrastructure
- Future parking approaches
- Funding and management considerations
We'd like your feedback. The Discussion Paper is the first step in developing a future Parking Plan for the City Centre. No decisions have been made.
