Consultation has concluded

European heritage within the Coffs Harbour LGA includes mid-19th century, as well as Aboriginal cultural heritage from a much earlier period. Many of these items provide first-hand information about how Coffs Harbour developed, who played a part in this development, how they lived their lives and how they built their living environment. Heritage items include buildings, sites, relics, heritage landscapes, local streetscapes, cemeteries, archaeological sites, industrial heritage sites and movable items.

Coffs Harbour first prepared a heritage strategy in 2003 and has subsequently operated a heritage program for over seventeen years. The strategy has been updated regularly and the current revision of the strategy, the draft Coffs Harbour Heritage Strategy 2021 – 2024, identifies how Council will implement its heritage program during the 2021 to 2024 period.

The draft strategy has been developed in accordance with relevant NSW Government legislation and guidelines and is based on the Heritage Council publication “Recommendations for local council heritage management”.

At its Ordinary Meeting of 13 May 2021, Council endorsed public exhibition of the draft Coffs Harbour Heritage Strategy 2021 – 2024 for a 28-day period. In accordance with this resolution, the draft Coffs Harbour Heritage Strategy 2021 – 2024 is now publicly available for comment.

The exhibition period is from Monday 24 May 2021 to close of business on Monday 21 June 2021. The draft Coffs Harbour Heritage Strategy 2021 – 2024 and all related information can be viewed in the document library on this web page.
