Library, Museum & Gallery Strategic Planning Project

Consultation has concluded
Coffs Harbour City Council is undertaking a project to develop a strategic plan for its Library, Museum and Gallery (LMG) services.
The LMG Strategy will guide the development of these important Council cultural services for the next 3-4 years and will aim to support the overarching Creative Coffs Cultural Strategic Plan 2017-22.
The City of Coffs Harbour supports a library service comprising three branches: the Harry Bailey Memorial Library in Coffs Harbour; and smaller branch libraries in Woolgoolga and Toormina. It supports a regional art gallery, which has a national presence and reputation, and a regional museum – both located in the Coffs Harbour town area.
The planning process will also help to inform the needs of the LMG service areas in relation to the planned Cultural and Civic Space project, which will include new expanded facilities for the Harry Bailey Memorial Library, Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery and Regional Museum on the Gordon Street site.
Consultancy firm, Project Sisu, has been engaged to undertake this strategic planning work. The majority of the stakeholder engagement phase has taken place in 2018.
The exhibition period was open from Wednesday 4 December to Wednesday 29 January 2020 and is now closed. The document can be viewed via the Documents Library on the right-side of this web page and hard copies can also be viewed at the Council Administration Building and at Coffs Harbour, Toormina and Woolgoolga libraries.
Submissions can be made during the period outlined above.
UPDATE - 2 March 2020:
The results of the public exhibition period and submissions process were reported back to Council at is meeting on Thursday 27 February 2020. No changes were recommended to the document - read the Council report here. It was resolved at this meeting that Council:
Adopts the Library Museum Gallery Strategy 2020-2023 (Attachment 1).
Notify Council’s decision to those that made a submission to the Library Museum Gallery Strategy 2020-2023.
Note that further funding allocations would need to be considered in Council’s next Delivery Program to continue the recommended Library Museum Gallery service development.
