Draft Lifeguard Service Strategic Plan

Council has developed a Draft Lifeguard Service Strategic Plan to guide the future development of important services including provision of Council lifeguard patrolled beaches, in-shore emergency response and beach/surf safety education and awareness programs. Council resolved on 10 October 2019 to place the Draft plan on public exhibition for 28 days with a report to come back to Council. The Council report can be viewed at this link here.

The Draft Lifeguard Service Strategic Plan can be downloaded via the Documents section on the right-hand side of this page.

The public exhibition period is from 16 October to 13 November 2019. An information stall is planned for Sunday 3 November at the Harbourside Markets at the Jetty Foreshores where you can speak to relevant staff.

As part of this project, an Issues and Options Paper on Inclusive Beach Access in the Coffs Harbour Local Government Area was also developed and noted by Council at its meeting held on 26 September 2019 - the Council resolution can be viewed at this link here.

Localé Consulting (based in Woolgoolga) was engaged to undertake this work on behalf of Council.

Stakeholder consultation was conducted in March-April 2019, and the draft documents were finalised in May-August 2019. The post-exhibition report back to Council is planned for 12 December 2019.
