The Public Realm Strategy will 'Create a Connected Network of Public Open Space - that is clean green and safe'.

The aim of this strategy is that everyone in our community will have access to clean green and safe open space within a 4-5minute walk from their home. The public realm is all public land that the community can use. Public spaces include our parks, our creeks, walking tracks, sport spaces, civis spaces, public facilities, streets and more. The stratwgy will impove our network of public open spaces that promote community connection, resilience and heath and well being through the planning, design and management of our public spaces over the next 10 years. To privide better access and connections to our amazzing outdoor envronments and to strengthen our ties to nature.

How was the Strategy developed?

Throughout July and August 2021 we consulted with the community to find out how you, the community, use the public realm and to test the current best practice theory (sourced from NSW Greener Places Framework).

What you told us:

  • Walking and jogging is the most favourite activity within our community - with a desire for more paths;
  • Connecting with nature is a close second favourite activity; and
  • A want and need for more trees.
