Sawtell community's requests to revise planning for Boronia Park and locate a new amenities block at the southern car park near the beach have been supported by Coffs Harbour City Council.


Council thanks all residents who have participated for their interest and involvement in the recent consultations regarding the Boronia Park draft masterplan and the future location of the new amenities building.

Council has listened to the concerns and aspirations expressed by Sawtell residents regarding the location of the amenities building.

Council is now taking action on your behalf, revising planning for the location of the new amenities, to accommodate the requests of the majority of residents who lobbied and/or participated in the Have Your Say survey.

Survey participants voted 39-1 in favour of locating the new amenities building in the southern car park, in preference to the other potential locations.

Council will now redesign the car park to facilitate the location of the new amenities building in the location preferred by the community.

Boronia Park is a significant relaxation and recreation area for locals and visitors alike. It is important that Council’s long-term investment in the site reflects both current and future needs and aspirations.

The ongoing fundraising and volunteer work by the Bonville Sawtell Lions Club to improve and enhance Boronia Park is a clear indication of the significant value the community places on this unique location, tucked between the Tasman Sea and Bonville Creek.

More than 410 individuals visited the Have Your Say page for Boronia Park; 194 people downloaded or viewed the information; 75 people downloaded the documents and; a total of 40 people Registered and completed the Survey.

Community priorities for other park improvements according to the Survey are, in order of priority: 1 – car park renewal; 2 – new shower; 3 – picnic shelter; 4 – new beach stairs; 5 – viewing deck.

Council looks forward to continuing to work with the community on the future improvements for Boronia Park.
