In December 2020, Coffs Harbour City Council completed a 5-year review of Coffs Harbour Local Environmental Plan (LEP) 2013. As a result of that review, Council resolved to amend the LEP.

A planning proposal has been prepared to outline the proposed changes, which include:
  • changes to aims of the LEP;
  • changes to many zone objectives;
  • allowing artisan food and drink industries as permissible with consent in rural areas;
  • allowing rural function centres as permissible with consent in rural areas;
  • changes to require consideration of Aboriginal cultural heritage when assessing development involving earthworks;
  • changes to terminology relating

This is the first of several stages of amendments in response to the 5-year review. The proposed amendments affects all land within the Coffs Harbour Local Government Area.

Council has sought permission from the NSW government to exhibit the planning proposal. This approval was granted on 16 February 2021 (PP-2021-133).

The exhibition period ran from Friday, 9 April 2021 to close of business on Friday, 7 May 2021. Council is now reviewing submissions received and agency comments before a decision is made on finalisation of this proposed amendment.
