MyCoffs Community Strategic Plan
Public Exhibition Closed
The reviewed MyCoffs Community Strategic Plan (CSP) Submissions are now closed.
We checked in with the community between October 2021 and March 2022 as part of reviewing the document.
Top priorities during the community check-in included:
- Housing
- Quality and maintenance of local infrastructure
- Waste management
- Climate change
- More and better-connected foot/ cycle paths
More information is in the Engagement Report.
As a result of feedback, key changes to the document include:
- A new objective to highlight the rising concern raised around housing and housing security
- Clearer roles and responsibilities for all stakeholders in delivering the Plan
- Links to international, national, state and local measures of progress
Council’s draft Delivery Program and Operational Plan have also incorporated feedback from the review. Both documents are currently on public exhibition.
What is the MyCoffs Community Strategic Plan?
MyCoffs CSP is the Coffs community’s shared vision of the direction we all wish to head in over the next 10 years.
In 2016/17, thousands of our community shaped MyCoffs CSP, and set a vision that we are ‘connected, sustainable and thriving’ by 2037.
We checked in to see if the strategic outcomes are progressing to make that 10 – year vision a reality.

Sustainable Community Leadership
about 2 years agoCLOSED: This ideas has concluded.Do our leaders give us confidence in the future, and do we have effective use of public resources?
You can read more about Sustainable Community Leadership and the MyCoffs CSP here. Post your ideas and see what others are saying. The below questions are prompts to consider.
- What are the challenges or opportunities most relevant to Sustainable Community Leadership for the Coffs Local Government Area?
- What could we all be doing more of to have leaders that give us confidence in the future, and public resources that are used effectively?
- What could Council measure to track if Coffs has leaders that give us confidence in the future, and we effectively use public resources?
MickJFabout 2 years agoEV charging infrastructure in all DAs for residential or business buildings
There is a lot of high density living in Coffs. As we transition to EVs many flats dwellers will not have any possibility to charge their vehicle at home. This will be a long term change but, any approval for new/renovated premises should include the basics for an EV charging point e.g. the correct electrical wiring to be drawn to a parking spot. The actual charger need not be part of the DA as these will change quite rapidly to start with and not everyone will have an EV to start with

This project uses QRcode tagged bags to allow recycling machinery to identify bags of pre-sorted recycling such as soft plastics. This should mean a high quality of recycled material as it requires some small effort to use it and will therefore sort out the people who throw anything in the recycling. This is being trialled in the Central Coast LGA https://www.curbcycle.com.au/

Pamela123about 2 years agoPlayground on Corindi Reserve Headland
The playground on Corindi Reserve Headland does NOT have a fence around it, which is very dangerous for children who can easily run onto the reserve road. There is also no shadecloth over the playground to protect children and parents from the sun.

Help encourage the State Government to start putting in solid plans to build a school at Moonee Beach (on the already owned land along Solitary Island Way) before it's too late - let's be on the front foot of what we know has to happen!

Housing should be sustainable and reflect the local environment by including trees and green spaces and reducing heat absorbing black rooves and hard surfaces. Affordable housing and options for the homeless are a priority.

Create a safe space at the Coffs Harbour Showgrounds. Allowing those in need to shelter and shower . It could be run by volunteers once established . A community project with the support of the local council .

Please use different cleaners in the public toilets, I get migraines from fragrances and the cleaning products smell very strong. Migraine is a disability and my disability stops me from using the public toilets.

0 comment3Agwilson10about 2 years agoHarness the attraction of 4WD tourism
From the bush to the beaches, the Coffs Coast is an attractive 4WD destination that should be built on to encourage local and interstate tourism which would benefit the whole region. Council recently closed and restricted 4WD access to a number of beaches on the Coffs Coast with little public consultation or planning on how to better manage the activity. Other nearby Councils manage 4WD beach access not only directly raising revenue through permits, but also through promoting education around responsible 4WD. There is a better way for 4WD tourists and locals to make the most of our environment, and not just slowly locking everyone out as the previous council has done.

I think this is a no brainer. Getting from Park Beach to Diggers would be easier for not only the motorist but would reduce traffic on one of Coffs Harbour's narrowest roads (Brunswick Ave).

We need to stop large amounts of household rubbish (furniture/mattresses etc) being constantly dumped in remote areas of our bushland.
2 comments5Blue77about 2 years agoBuild an ocean rock pool on the Northern Beaches.
Sydney's Northern beaches have 15 tidal ocean rock pools,,,we have none. We can spend $80 million on a building , we should be able to build a rock pool which would enable safe swimming exercise under all conditions for the growing population.

MickJFabout 2 years agoUpgrade Coffs Creek shared pathway
The pathway from Duke St to the promenade is a real gem for Coffs. However, it has some serious, dangerous shortcomings. The S-curve from Hardacre St down over the drain is very dangerous. Cyclist often seem to be unaware of the bend or simply are risk takers but a number of times I have narrowly missed collisions there. One time a cyclist drove off into the trees but somehow avoided injury. Why an S-bend and why so sharp? The track surface here also get very wet and slippery with algae/vegetation. Further on, the underpass under Hogbin Dr is also a design problem. A great idea but, poorly implemented. Bicycles going down hill go fast to get up the next hill. The hills are too steep (particular to the west) and the path too narrow. There are often, pedestrians, dogs, small children on bikes and it easily get quite dangerous as there is no line of sight. Again, some cyclists have no sense of safety as well. The path surface to the east here is also needing repair. There are several other areas needing work but, I will leave it there.

1 comment2MooneeMagicabout 2 years agoProtective walkway and buffer along Moonee Creek to go in as a priority during construction of new areas - with adequate stormwater traps
Moonee Creek must be better protectedq and more effective stormater traps to cater for the extreme weather events/ downpours we are experiencing. The community expects the construction of bike tracks/walkways connected as approved in the development control plan that the Moonee Community so actively participated in - which help serve as a protective buffer, while still allowing the community to enjoy this beautiful area and all it has to offer.
