Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan today said a re-elected Coalition Government would provide $1 million to the Woolgoolga Life Saving Club to construct a new Surf Club House to replace the existing ageing facility.
“This is great news for the Woolgoolga community and in particular the Surf Club’s 400 volunteer members who so freely give up their time to help us,” he said.
“The existing surf club is almost 65 years old and is no longer fit for the demands put on the club and its members.”
The new club house will include multiple storage facilities for surf rescue equipment, a state-of-the-art Patrol Room, First Aid room, a public café, function and training rooms, Kitchen, Gymnasium, and a Boat Bar on the first floor overlooking the beach.

Council have endorsed a detailed concept plan for the Woolgoolga Beach Reserve following extensive community consultation.
The Detailed Concept Plan for Woolgooolga Beach Reserve refines the location and design of elements for the Reserve from the adopted Plan of Management and Woolgoolga Town Centre Masterplan.
The Detailed Concept Plan incorporates the community’s top ten desired outcomes for the reserve and seeks to enhance the natural amenity and beauty of the Reserve.

For the fourth year in a row Coffs Harbour has won the globally-acclaimed International Festivals and Events Association (IFEA) World Festival and Event City Award.
The award means that Coffs Harbour has been ranked equally alongside cities such as Moscow, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Sydney and Philadelphia for the quality and variety of its annual events.
Among the sporting and cultural events that helped Coffs Harbour win this most recent award were:
- Kennard’s Hire Rally Australia – WRC World Rally Championship
- Screenwave International Film Festival
- Harmony Festival
- Coffs Coast Food Festivals (including Woolgoolga Curryfest, Sawtell Chillifest, Taste Woolgoolga)
- Midnight Oil concert
- Women’s Ashes Cricket Series
- Coffs Harbour International Buskers and Comedy Festival

Ten local groups are to share $37,400 in arts and cultural grants from Council that will bring new and exciting opportunities to celebrate the cultural diversity of the Coffs Coast community.
This year’s funding round includes grants to develop a short film contrasting the experience of growing up in Coffs Harbour as opposed to passing through as a visitor, the screening of the largest science film festival in the southern hemisphere, multi-disciplinary arts projects, workshops and concerts, contemporary dance projects, a creative arts programs for recently settled young people, women and children of refugee backgrounds and musical workshops with clients of Pete’s Place.

Opened in 1969, the Temple in Hastings Street was an important symbol of the acceptance of Sikhs as an integral part of the Woolgoolga community.

The extensive and successful community consultation on the Woolgoolga Town Centre Masterplan undertaken by consultants Lat27 and Coffs Harbour City Council has been recognised with an award from the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA).
At the AILA NSW Landscape Architecture Awards last night, the project took out the Urban Design Award. The AILA Awards celebrate and promote the quality design for public open spaces, stronger communities and improved environmental stewardship.
