City Centre Parking Plan
Consultation closed 14 May 2024. A draft City Centre Parking Plan will be placed on public exhibition later this year.
The community has recently been invited to participate in a survey on current parking habits and issues to inform a City Centre Parking Plan.
There are about 4,000 public car parking spaces in the Coffs city centre and the City is planning ahead as the region grows. The purpose of this Plan is to work out future parking supply and management to support the needs of businesses, customers, shoppers, workers and visitors. A Draft Parking Plan will be reported to Council later in 2024 and, with Council approval, will be placed on Public Exhibition for further community feedback.
Purpose of the Parking Plan?
The purpose of developing a City Centre Parking Plan is to work out future parking supply and management to support the needs of businesses, customers, shoppers, workers and visitors.
From 5 April to 14 May we consulted with the community and asked for feedback to help us understand the following:
- parking preferences
- parking challenges and issues
- ideas on how parking can be improved in the City Centre.
Feedback was collected the following ways:
- Online survey
- Dropping a comment on the online interactive map
- Pop up session at Coffs Growers Market in the City Centre on Thursday 9 May - an opportunity to speak with our planning staff and engage with people passing by.
Next steps
We are reviewing community input to help inform the development of the Draft City Centre Parking Plan.
A Draft Parking Plan will be reported to Council for approval to be placed on Public Exhibition to give the community a chance to provide further feedback before landing on a final plan.
