Regional Indoor Sports Centres are multi-sporting facilities that can be accessed all year around. They include a range of indoor sports courts, have the capacity to host national, state and regional championships and complement already established sport facilities.

In 2018 Council adopted the Coffs Harbour Indoor Sport Study which prioritised the development of a regional facility (minimum of 6 courts) within the Coffs Coast Regional Sports Hub project to meet regional event and economic opportunities. The Coffs Coast Regional Sports Hub project is part funded by the NSW Government’s Regional Sports Infrastructure Fund and Council, with a business case being prepared for the proposed Regional Indoor Sports Centre.

The Coffs Coast Regional Sports Hub maximises the potential of the Coffs Coast Sport and Leisure Park (CCSLP) as a multi-sport facility and provides significant alignment and opportunity for ongoing partnerships with neighbouring assets such as Southern Cross University and Coffs Harbour Health Campus.

In September 2020 Council considered a Regional Indoor Sports Centre Site Selection Report following a comprehensive investigation.

This investigation recommended Bruce Barnier Oval within the Coffs Coast Sport and Leisure Park as the preferred location for further planning and development of the Coffs Harbour Regional Indoor Sports Centre.

The next stage of the project, as outlined in the Regional Sports Hub project funding agreement, is the preparation of a business case for the Bruce Barnier Oval site. This work can now commence to enable delivery of the business case as per the grant milestone.

You can see an overview of the site selection assessment and access to the Regional Indoor Sports Centres Site Selection Report prepared by Xypher Consulting in more detail in the Key Documents and FAQs section of this page.

This page will provide information as various stages of the Regional Indoor Sports Center project progress.
