Help shape the future of sport and active recreation in our region
We’re planning for the future of sport and active recreation facilities in the Coffs Harbour LGA to make sure they keep up with the needs of our growing and changing community.
The City of Coffs Harbour is developing a 15-year Sport and Active Recreation Strategy to guide how we plan, manage, and invest in our facilities so they continue to support healthy, active lifestyles for everyone.
Why we’re planning ahead
Sport and active recreation facilities are highly valued in our community, but there are challenges we need to address:
Our population is growing, placing additional demand on existing facilities.
Recreation trends are shifting, with people seeking more choice in how they get active.
Expectations about the quality, accessibility and inclusivity of facilities are increasing.
Facilities are managed in different ways, which can be inconsistent.
What the Strategy will do
The Strategy will:
Support more people to participate in sport and active recreation.
Provide fair and coordinated planning and management of facilities.
Identify current and future needs of clubs, groups, and the wider community.
Offer clear guidance for future investment, upgrades, and management practices.
We’ve engaged Otium Planning Group, national specialists in sport, recreation, and leisure planning, to assist in developing this Strategy.
