Draft Resource Recovery and Waste Strategy
We’re excited to share the draft Resource Recovery and Waste Strategy, developed with valuable input from our community—thank you to everyone who contributed!
We now invite you to review the draft strategy and provide your feedback by making a submission. Together, we can create a cleaner, more sustainable future for Coffs Harbour region.
This strategy sets a long-term vision for waste services in the Coffs Harbour region and provides a comprehensive framework aimed at reducing waste sent to landfill, while encouraging sustainable and responsible waste management.
It identifies opportunities to minimise waste, enhance resource recovery, and transition to a more sustainable economy, while also addressing emissions and carbon impacts from waste management activities.
Analysis of the current waste landscape and comprehensive community consultation has informed the development of a Vision and Guiding Principles to help develop future goals, key focus areas, along with an action plan to ensure specific targets are met.
The actions are based on specific targets outlined in the document to utilise opportunities for improvement and work to meet the Council’s strategic objectives.
The strategy has a 15-year period, but the initial focus is on the details for the first 5 years.
