FAQ
Community Benefits?
This project will respond to our Place Score findings from 2019 which can be viewed here, by significantly improving the public realm and connections. This will include bike lanes and more space for pedestrian footpaths, strengthening connections from the Jetty Strip to the Jetty Foreshores.
Business Impacts?
Council is very conscious of the potential impacts that the construction of this project (if funded) may have on surrounding business owners. If funded Council will work with business owners to ensure these impacts will be minimised.
What land do we own?
Council does not own the land adjacent to the railway line please see Sheet 1 of 14 (page 2 of the pdf document) of the DRAFT Coffs Jetty Strip Streetscape Plans which can be found here. This area, which is described in the plans prepared by King and Campbell as 'Jetty Plaza' and car park, is owned by the NSW Government. Council will have to undertake negotiations with this agency in order to purchase the land and build what the plans propose, before we can undertake any work. This area of the plan is pending NSW Government agreement to sell.
How will parking and accessibility be affected?
By regrading the street and fixing the uneven levels from the road to the existing footpath along the restaurant side of the Jetty Strip, this will increase the accessibility to businesses from both sides of the road, making it easier to cross and access.
Increasing the widths of footpaths and extending past the Jetty Strip is providing more accessible links to other areas of parking within the area. See pages 7 and 17 of the Urban Design Report document for more information.
Please note the page numbers may be different when viewed in pdf format. These page numbers may increase to page 8 and page 18 depending on the format.
Is the project currently funded?
No the project is not currently funded. Council is seeking funding through grant applications at this time. There will be no rate rise to fund this project.
